College All-American and National Pro Fastpitch Player Alexa Peterson to be Keynote Speaker at 2022 Fastpitch Northwest Championships

Alexa Peterson will be the Keynote speaker at this year’s Northwest Championships opening day orientation on August 2nd in Centralia, WA. She will be sharing her experiences as an All-American at the University of Oregon and her professional fastpitch career.

Alexa, a Salem, Oregon native, graduated from South Salem High School in 2010. She verbally committed to the University of Oregon her sophomore year as a catcher/outfielder.

At Oregon, she was a First Team All-Pac 12 selection twice and a First Team All-American and First Team Academic All-American. Oregon went to the Women's College World Series Alexa's sophomore and senior year, with Alexa making the All-World Series team in her sophomore year for her

performance. In her junior year with the Ducks, Peterson was the Pac-12 Batting Champion, hitting .492. She ended her collegiate career ranked on Oregon's all-time top-10 in career doubles, home runs, hits, walks, batting average, and RBIs.

Alexa was drafted 11th overall in the 2014 National Pro Fastpitch Draft by the USSSA Pride. She played professionally for six years, winning the NPF Championship Cowles Cup twice with the Pride. She also played one season in the Netherlands in their top professional league.

Alexa helped start the first-ever softball program at the University of Montevallo (D2), coaching them to two conference tournament appearances in their first three years. She currently serves as a Professional Hitting Instructor for The Hitting Vault, does private lessons/clinics, and is the Oregon USSSA Fastpitch State Director.

She resides with her husband John and her son Luke in Salem.

College of Idaho head coach Al Mendiola will also speak about the college recruiting process, important “Do’s and Don’ts,” and how to use the Fastpitch Northwest complimentary online player profile in recruiting efforts.

The evening will highlight awards and acknowledgment of the outstanding SPARQ and skills testing scores achieved during the Player Evaluation Camps.
